I BALZINI Winery was born from Vincenzo D’Isanto’s passion for wine. In the 1970s he bought a house and some farmland in the municipality of Barberino Val D’Elsa. The land’s name was I Balzini, a word that in Tuscany indicates hill cliffs. Vincenzo planted the first vineyard and after a few years of experimentation entrusted it to the care of Giulio Gambelli. With his help, I Balzini White Label was born in 1987. Over time, Vincenzo’s love for wine was passed onto his wife, Antonella, who left her work as a consultant and moved to the hills of Barberino Val d’Elsa. Here, she learned all she could about wine, and, within a few years, became the head of the winery.

Antonella has widened the range of products, and she has realized the project Tuscan Colours. Every type of wine is characterized by a different colour in its label, so that I Balzini White and Black were followed by the Green Label, the Red label and now the Pink Label, a new rosé, made by Sangiovese and Merlot, born out of the beauty of the summer sunsets on the hills around the vineyard. All wines are produced from grapes selected and harvested by hand. Antonella’s rainbow of labels found a new addition with the Brown Label, an aged, soft and fragrant grappa, together with the Scarlet Label, a wine jelly.
